Strašidelné legendy – bludičky
Od našich předků, kteří dávali přednost ústní tradici, se nám dochovalo jen málo pověstí. Ty, které přežily, jsou často ukryté pod nánosy křesťanské víry. Podobně je tomu zřejmě i s bludičkami, světelnými úkazy, které se dnes připisují nejčastěji atmosférickým jevům. Lidové pověsti na to ale mají vlastní názor…

Tajemná světýlka, která byla spatřena, jak se strašidelně vznášejí nebo pohybují, obzvlášť nad kapradinami a mokřinami nebo na kostelních prostranstvích, si v Evropě získala pochmurnou pověst a velkou spoustu jmen, například will-o-the-wisp, liščí oheň, bláznův oheň (protože jen blázen by ho následoval), bludičky aj. Tato světýlka mohou být způsobená atmosférickými podmínkami nebo možná vznícením plynů z rozkládajících se rostlin nebo zvířat. Vypadají jako malé svítící koule ohně nebo jako plamínek svíčky a obvykle jsou spojované s dušemi mrtvých.
O bludičce se občas povídá, že je to bloudící duše, která nemůže nalézt útočiště v nebi ani v pekle. Nebo třeba zlomyslný šotek, který se nevyzpytatelně potuluje kolem, a kdokoli ho následuje, se pravděpodobně beznadějně ztratí nebo bude doveden až do záhuby v bažině nebo jezírku. Existuje pár zpráv o tom, jak takové světýlko pomohlo lidem najít cestu z nebezpečí. Také existují příběhy o tom, jak bludička pronásledovala svou vyděšenou oběť napříč blátem a trním, dokud ji úplně nezmátla, a poté ji opustila za zvuku smíchu.
Spatřit „světlo mrtvoly“, jak se bludičce v některých krajích taky říká, jak se ve tmě vznáší vzduchem, může být varování vaší vlastní blížící se smrti, nebo smrti někoho vám blízkého. Nebo se může vznášet nad místem, kde brzy dojde k úmrtí. Častěji je viděna, jak putuje od hřbitova k domu osoby, která je blízko smrti, a tak opisuje opačným směrem cestu, kterou se vydá pohřební pochod, nebo taky zůstává nad střechou domu, kde někdo zemře.

Mořský ekvivalent bludičky existuje v podobě namodralého světla nazývaného Eliášův oheň (St. Elmo’s Fire), který je způsobený statickou elektřinou za silných bouří a je doprovázený praskavým zvukem, který připomíná hořící větvičky. Je vidět na stěžních lodí a většinou byl správně vykládán jako znamení, že ta nejhorší část bouřky už pominula. Když se ale snese dolů na palubu, jedná se o zlověstné znamení, a pokud začne kroužit kolem hlavy námořníka, znamená to jeho blížící se smrt.
Další anglickou variantou pro „oheň sv. Elma“ je „corposant“ a pochází z portugalského „corpo santo“, „svaté tělo“. Tělem se tu myslí tělo samotného svatého Elma, jelikož sv. Elmo je patronem námořníků ve Středozemním moři. Jeho jméno je pravděpodobně odvozeninou od jména Erasmus, mučedníka ze 4. století našeho letopočtu, o kterém se vypráví, že zemřel za mořské bouře poté, co svým námořníkům slíbil, že pokud jim není souzeno v této bouří umřít také, vrátí se a ukáže se jim. Námořníci poté spatřili zářící modré světlo okolo stěžňů lodi…
